Getting started

Quick start

From sign-up to the first numbers in six steps. Nothing is asked of any assistant, and nothing is spent, until you run a scan.

1. Sign up and add a site

Open the sign-up page and enter your name, your work email, a password of at least 8 characters and a name for the workspace, and accept the Terms. You are the Owner of the new workspace. Teddit sends a link to your email; open it to confirm the address and continue.

The first screen asks Which site do you want to track?

  • Website: the site you monitor, for example brightloop.example. The domain cannot be changed later.
  • Brand name: what assistants call you, for example Brightloop. It is filled in from the domain; correct it if needed.
  • Your customers are in and They ask in: the country and the language the assistants answer for. Both can be changed later.

Does your brand go by other names? Open the site’s Settings in the sidebar and add them under Your brand, for example Bright Loop. An answer that uses any of these names counts as naming you. Changing them re-reads the answers you already have, at no cost.

2. Add competitors

The next screen asks Who do you compete with? Enter each brand’s name and website. For Brightloop that could be Mailora, Quillsend, Pulsepost, Inboxly and Campaignkit. You can also press Skip for now and add them later on the Competitors page.

  • The website lets Teddit tell when an answer links to that competitor’s pages.
  • A competitor added later is counted in the answers you already have, at no cost. A competitor added after ten scans has ten scans of history.
  • The Competitors page also lists brands that are not tracked but keep turning up in recent answers. Press Track to add one.

Two things depend on competitors: share of voice and the “Competitors only” square. Without competitors, Teddit cannot tell an answer that names four rivals from an answer that names nobody.

3. Add prompts

The next screen asks What do your customers ask AI? Type one question per line. Each line must be between 3 and 500 characters. The prompts are active at once.

Which email marketing platform is best for a small online shop?
How do I improve the deliverability of my newsletters?
What should I look for when I compare email automation tools?
  • Write full questions, the way a customer would ask an assistant. Keywords alone give poor answers.
  • Leave your own brand out of most questions. The point is to see whom the assistant names on its own. A prompt that names your brand is marked “Names your brand” in the list.
  • A line that is already tracked on this site is skipped.

Later, on the Prompts page, Add prompts adds more with categories and an intent, and Import reads a CSV file (see Importing prompts). After the first scan, the tab From the assistants’ searches in Add prompts lists the web searches the assistants ran while answering; tick any of them to add them as prompts.

The pencil next to a prompt opens it for editing: the text, its categories (one prompt can have several) and its intent. Switching off the checkbox in that dialog pauses the prompt. A paused prompt keeps its history and is left out of every scan and every figure until you resume it.

4. Top up and run the first scan

The last screen is Run your first scan. Choose the assistants and the model each one answers with; Defaults and Cheapest set all of them at once. Choose how often to scan: by hand, daily, weekly or monthly. The screen shows the answers per scan, the price per scan and per month, and the workspace balance.

  • Scans are paid from a prepaid balance. When the balance does not cover the scan, the Owner presses Top up to scan and pays by card in the Paddle checkout. The smallest top-up is $25. Prices include tax: what you pay is what lands on the balance.
  • Run scan starts the scan; the button carries its estimated price. Finish without scanning saves everything and lets you scan later.
answers = prompts × assistants

20 prompts × 6 assistants = 120 answers
  • The scan appears at the top of Scan history on the Scans page, with its progress. Answers arrive one by one, so you can open the Dashboard while it runs.
  • When the scan finishes, everyone in the workspace gets a notification under the bell with the number of answers, how many name you and how many link to your site.
  • A failed answer costs nothing. Each answer is charged at what it really used, so the final price can differ a little from the estimate.

5. Scan settings for later scans

Open Scans in the sidebar and press Scan settings.

BlockWhat you choose
What to scanAll active prompts, or one category.
Assistants and modelsWhich assistants to ask, and the model of each. Only the assistants an admin or the owner allows for the site are listed (the site’s Settings → Assistants and models). AI Overviews and AI Mode offer Live (fast) and Standard (slow: within minutes, and cheaper). Defaults and Cheapest set all assistants at once.
How each prompt is askedOnce per assistant, from the site’s country, web search on. Batch pricing: ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini answer for a lower price within a few hours (a day at most); the other assistants answer at once.
ScheduleManual only, Daily, Weekly or Monthly. Scheduled scans run at night (UTC).
SpendingMax per scan stops a scan once it has cost that much; 0 means twice the scan’s estimate. Skip when the site cap is reached keeps the site’s monthly cap in force.

The bottom of the dialog shows the answers per scan and the estimated price per scan for the settings as they stand. Save settings keeps them for every later scan of this site, scheduled or started by hand.

  • Run scan on the Scans page starts a scan with the saved settings. Starting a scan needs the Admin or Owner role. One scan runs at a time per site.
  • Cancel running scan stops it: answers still waiting are dropped, an answer already on its way may still arrive.
  • To ask only a few prompts, tick them on the Prompts page and press Scan selected. They are asked with the saved scan settings, and the price is shown before you start.
A workspace can run a set number of scans per month, and every site can have a monthly cap. See Balance and spending limits.

6. Read the dashboard

Open Dashboard. The buttons at the top set the period: Day, Week, Month or 3 months. Everything below describes that period and compares it with the one before.

BlockWhat it tells you
Naming youThe share of answers in which your brand is named.
Linking to youThe share of answers that cite a page of your site.
Share of voiceYour part of all the times you and your tracked competitors are named.
Your pages citedHow many citations point at your site, and at how many different pages.
Tone when you are namedHow many of the answers that name you are positive, neutral, mixed or negative. Click it to read them.
By AI assistantA line per assistant, period by period. The switch chooses what is drawn: naming you, linking to your site, or the visibility score.
What changedThe prompts where an assistant started or stopped naming you (or linking to you) since the period before.
CompetitorsYou and the tracked brands, ranked by share of voice.

Each of the four numbers at the top shows its change since the period before. After the very first scan there is nothing to compare with, so there is no change to show.

For one prompt at a time, open Prompts. Each row shows a strip of coloured squares, one row of squares per assistant. The colours are explained on the Metrics and statuses page. Click a prompt to read the answers word for word, with the brands named, the sources used and the web searches the assistant ran.

What to do next

  • Scan again later. Changes, trends and the history squares need at least two scans in different periods.
  • Open Pages to see which pages of your site the assistants link to, and where they rank in Google for the searches the assistants ran.
  • Invite colleagues: the gear icon in the top bar → Members & roles. See Roles.
  • Create a key under API & MCP and connect the MCP server, then ask your own AI about the answers. The example questions are a place to start.
  • Each Monday, after a week with a scan, Teddit emails a summary of the week. Switch it off under Account → Notifications, or with the one-click link in the email.
