Balance and spending limits

Scans are paid from a prepaid balance. Four things can stop a scan or refuse a change: the balance, the limits of the workspace, the monthly cap of a site, and the most one scan may cost. This page describes each, and what the price of a scan includes.

All cost figures in Teddit are prices in US dollars: what a scan costs you, its answers, the tone of voice judged on them and the Google checks of their searches, as described under Scan cost estimate. The same figures are used by the balance, Max per scan and the monthly cap.

The balance

There is no subscription, no free plan and no trial. A workspace has one prepaid balance, shared by all its sites, and every scan is paid from it.

  • Topping up. The Owner tops up on the Spending page (gear icon in the top bar → Spending) and pays by card in the Paddle checkout. Paddle is our reseller and Merchant of Record and handles VAT and sales tax; a business can enter its VAT ID at checkout. The smallest top-up is $25, the largest $5,000; write to us for more.
  • Prices include tax. What you pay is what lands on the balance.
  • The balance does not expire. Top-ups are not refundable; see the Refund Policy.
  • A scan the balance cannot cover does not start. The scans already running count as spent. A scheduled scan waiting for money is tried again every hour, and Admins and Owners are told once under the bell.
  • A running scan stops when the balance runs out. It checks the balance as it is now, so two scans running at once cannot spend the same money.
  • Failed answers cost nothing, and a charge made by mistake goes back to the balance.

The Spending page shows the balance, every top-up with the invoice for card payments (Owner only), and what each site spent this month and in the last six months. On the 1st of each month, Owners and Admins get a CSV statement of the month before by email: the balance at the start and the end, the money that came in, and every scan with its answers, tokens, web searches, Google checks and amount. The same statements can be downloaded on the Spending page.

Workspace limits

A new workspace gets these limits. They only keep runaway use in check; write to us at hello@teddit.io to raise them.

SitesPrompts per siteScans per monthPeopleScheduled scans
102,00050020Yes

How each limit is applied:

  • Sites. Adding a site beyond the limit is refused.
  • Prompts per site. Every prompt of the site counts, whatever its status. Adding one beyond the limit is refused; an import adds rows until the limit is reached and skips the rest.
  • Scans per month. Counted for the whole workspace, all sites together, per calendar month in UTC. Every scan that starts counts as one, large or small, started by hand, by the schedule or through the API, and whether it finished, failed or was cancelled. When the month’s scans are used up, no scan starts until the next month.
  • People. Members and pending invitations are counted together. An invitation beyond the limit is refused.

Limits are checked only when something is created or started. Reading reports is never limited.

The refusal messages name the limit, for example “The Pay as you go plan allows 2000 prompts per project. Write to us to raise it.” “Pay as you go” is the name every workspace’s limits go by; it is not a paid plan.

Monthly cap of a site

The monthly cap is the most a site’s scans may cost in a calendar month. Set it in the site’s Settings (in the sidebar), under Scans and spending → Monthly limit. An empty field means no cap. The same place shows what the site has spent so far this month.

  • What is counted: the cost of every scan of the site that started since the first day of the month, 00:00 UTC.
  • Before a scan: if the site has spent as much as the cap or more, the scan does not start.
  • During a scan: a scan that starts below the cap stops when the cap is reached.
  • What it covers: every scan of the site: the Run scan button, Scan selected, the schedule, the API and MCP.
  • Scheduled scans: a scheduled scan that hits the cap is skipped. The next one keeps its place in the schedule, and Admins and Owners get a notification under the bell.
Brightloop has reached its monthly cap: $40.00 spent of $40.00.
Raise the cap in the site's settings, or wait for the new month.
Answers already being asked when the cap is reached, and the tone and Google checks of the answers collected, are still counted, so a month can close a little above the cap.

Scan settings has a checkbox Skip when the site cap is reached. It is on unless you switch it off. With it off, the cap is not applied and scans start whatever the site has spent.

Max per scan

Max per scan is in Scan settings under Spending. It is the most one scan may cost; 0 means twice the scan’s estimate, so answers far longer than expected cannot spend the whole balance.

  • Once the cost has reached the limit, the answers still waiting are dropped and the scan ends. The scan’s own page says where it stopped.
  • Answers that were already on their way still arrive, so the final cost can pass the limit by a few answers.
  • The answers collected before the stop are kept and counted like any others, tone included.

The limit applies to scans that use the saved scan settings: the Run scan button, Scan selected on the Prompts page and the schedule. Through the API and MCP, pass budgetUsd with the scan, or saved: true on the API to use the saved settings.

Scan cost estimate

Before a scan runs, Teddit shows what it is expected to cost: on the Run scan button, in Scan settings, in the Scan selected dialog, and from the API and MCP (estimate_scan). The estimate is the number of answers times each assistant’s price per answer with the model you chose, plus two small extras:

  • judging the tone of the answers that name you, a few cents per hundred answers;
  • checking where the web searches the assistants ran rank in Google, about $0.0036 per search.
  • Scan settings list every model of each assistant. The default is the model most people get in the assistant’s own app.
  • ChatGPT and Gemini also offer the app answer: the answer as the app shows it, at a flat price per answer. AI Overviews and AI Mode come Live (at once) or Standard (within minutes, cheaper).
  • Batch pricing lowers the price of ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini answers; they arrive within a few hours, a day at most. The other assistants, and the app answers, answer at once at the normal price. Switch it in Scan settings; through the API it is batch on the schedule endpoint.
  • “Per month” in Scan settings is the cost per scan times 30 for a daily schedule, times 4.33 for a weekly one, and times 1 for a monthly one.

The recorded cost of a scan is not the estimate. Each answer is charged at what it really used, and the scan’s cost is the sum. A failed answer adds nothing. Scan history shows the cost of every scan; the balance, the monthly cap and Max per scan work on these recorded figures. The prices per answer are on the pricing page.

Why a scan did not start

When a scan is refused, the app shows the reason, and the API returns it as the error message.

A scheduled scan that cannot start for a reason other than the cap is tried again an hour later. Admins and Owners are told once under the bell, not every hour.
